PCB assembly can be difficult to source. Contract manufacturers are often booked out weeks in advance, and because they’re so busy they’ll look for any excuse to delay your build. Oh, wait, you needed a few prototypes to test your design before building thousands? Most contract manufacturers want large volumes.
